3/5/2015

In the reading today the victory is finally realized and the land is divided. I thought it might be helpful to have a visual of how the land was divided.

This is off topic but when you get to Judges and Ruth they talk of Bethlehem. Bethlehem is in Judah's land. Now...was Judah changed to Judea later? In Jesus times Bethlehem was in Judea...right? And when you have time, I know there is alot of significance in Shechem. Beth Moore gave alot of info on that, but if you could put it into a nutshell that would be helpful. :)

First, Judah is changed to Judea by the Romans when they divide the land after they conquer it. But Judea is more than just the area that Judah inherited, it encompasses all of the southern portion of the Promised land. I will show more maps later in the year as the Monarchy and Divided Kingdom come into play so you can follow how the land changes names. Good question

As far as shechem...that is really beyond my knowledge. Beth Moore or an OT Scholar could and will give more info on the importance of it. I will see what I can find though.

There are people who enjoy doing things alone, and believe me, it is important that we respect them. I am able to go and enjoy what I do, and I do it alone. There are people who criticize me for it, but I do not mind. It is because I have no one around me that I am able to enjoy myself. I hope that I can continue to do this all on my own, that is my dream for now.

Thanks. Wasn't the tribe of Dan living among the Philistines? They didn't take their land right away because they had to fight for it? They did later? Am I getting this?

Don't rack your brain on the shechem thing. It's all good cause I know you are busy researching other things. :)
