1-God, the great warrior. The book depicts God as a warrior who rescues his people from their enemies. God’s people are still at war today. Indeed, we are engaged in an infinitely more dangerous confrontation, against evil itself. But God has given us powerful spiritual weapons (Ephesians 6:10-18) and we enter this battle confident that Christ has already assured the final outcome by His victory.
2-God’s faithfulness. Joshua portrays God’s faithfulness to His promise (21:45, 23:14). As Israel took possession of the land, the ancient promises to Abraham became concrete realities. God is a promise keeper, and Christians today have been given great and precious promises (2 Peter 1:4), every one of which is fulfilled in Jesus.
