Hebrews 1-2

Imagine with me for a second. You are retired, you worked your whole life as a construction worker/house wife. You worked for 50 years, hard labor serving God in your work. You now live with your children and grandchildren and watch as they grow older and mature. You are excited because your family has grown up in a house that worships the one true God and now they also have taken their faith in God as part of their lives. You have read your Bible every day and now your children also teach and read the Bible to your grandchildren. You have gone to church every week of your life, because it is what God wants and now your grandchildren are going with you to church every week also. As you go to church, you give your tithe to the church, you serve in the church by teaching the children, and you are very close to the rest of your church family. You do all this to worship God in humility and always with confession and repentance because you know you are a sinner and must do this to show respect to God. You also have faith in God because you know He is big, has a plan, and will someday redeem you and your family to a bigger better place. You do all of this worship and church because the Bible and God says so. And you have done this all for 60 years just like your parents taught you to do it. Your whole life as simply become an act of ritual and worship to God waiting in anticipation of His coming wonderful day. One day you hear from someone in your church that a radical, lived, claimed to be God, died a horrible death, claimed to raise from the dead, and now has led to a new movement among your church people. You must now wrestle with the fact that this Jesus claimed to be the Messiah, said He was God in the flesh calling people to follow him and leave the church and rules you have followed for 60 years. What are you going to do? Are you going to stick with what you know, have read in the Bible, and done for 60 years or are you going to join this radical movement? Do you stay with what you know from your life or do you stake a claim in this radical man who challenged everything about your way of life?

Answering these questions and this situation is why the letter to the Hebrews was written. What do we do with the generation of Jewish people born and living around Jesus life and shortly after? Hebrews was written to them.

what a story....but this is an example of people getting too comfortable in their faith. Wouldn't we all love it if our life played out this way? Family is close and united?
What happens when one person in the family finds Jesus and has a radical change? The rest of them try to convince them they are nuts and need to return to the safety of the family or religion they always knew. This happened to me.....I was saved at 26. I was so excited and my family ( my parents and brother) wasn't. They didn't understand why I had to be so "religious". So I just kept going to church with my husband and my kids. My family eventually followed my lead and came to church for a short proud of time.....but I believe they still don't understand the way Or why I do things for God. It's ok. Being different among the People you are closest too is hard....but going to be worth it one day in heaven. Keep pressing for the goal. God is good and that's all we have to focus on.

Today i had a conversation with a friend of mine. He, said that it is part of our Christian duty to tell and show others, even Christians things that can be hard for them to hear. Hopefully your family will follow you back to church someday. You have such a strong faith!!! I truly enjoy seeing how you get excited when you talk about the word of God. So, keep going to church, keep talking the word, keep showing others the way to Jesus, and most of all, keep your powerful faith.

Thank you for your encouraging words. I don't feel I have a lot of faith but if others see this in me then our God is working....so thank you.

You are very welcome.

I can see your faith and with you posting words of encouragement on this and other sites, it shows very clearly.
