Today we read through the first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas. Paul had a plan laid out in advance for how he wanted to reach each community with the good news of Jesus. Paul when he would enter a community or town would always head to the local synagogue (Jewish church) and begin to preach the good news to the Jews. After he would get a footing with the Jewish community, Paul would then focus on the gentile people. We saw this from Paul in chapters 13-14 today. But at Lystra there was no synagogue so Paul went right to the gentile people and preached the good news to them. How did that turn out? One thing I love about Luke in his writing of Acts as that he always makes sure to connect the conversion of the people to the teaching of Paul. The Word does the work through Paul, the miracles were just there to back it and support it. As we continue to read through Acts in the days ahead, look first to see how Paul’s strategy to each community works itself out and see how Paul adjust to reach each community with the Gospel. Also take a notice to see how the Word does the work.

I find it interesting that the sorcerer was made blind by God. I wonder if that made him change his words. I know it sure would have scared the heck out of me.
